Barca Nepal, March 5. Atletico Madrid had the advantage of an additional day of rest in the build-up to their clash with Barcelona on Sunday, and Sergio Busquets was extremely critical of LaLiga’s scheduling after his side’s 1-0 win.
Los Cules played on Thursday evening against Las Palmas with Los Colchoneros having earned a 4-0 victory over Leganes on Wednesday.”We dominated the match until the fatigue we have suffered from set in,” he admitted in his post-match interview.
“We had to come into this following a long trip, with little rest. It would have been better to have played on Wednesday and it would have been easy to schedule that.
“Having less time to train certainly limited the effectiveness of Ernesto Valverde’s game plan, at times late on in the second half the hosts appeared to be working on autopilot.
“It shows when you’ve had enough sleep and are well rested,” Busquets confirmed. “I don’t like to make excuses, but when you win you can say these things. We want to make things better.”
