After setting a club record for games without a loss in La Liga this past weekend, Barcelona are back in action with a trip to the Canary Islands to face Las Palmas. One of the best teams in the league last season, Las Palmas have been through hell this term, and a number of managerial changes doesn’t seem to be helping them in what will be a tough relegation battle over the next few months.
They still deserve respect, though, and Barça are under tremendous pressure here. Atletico Madrid continue to win and are just four points behind the leaders at the moment. Barça and Atleti face each other at Camp Nou on Sunday, so by the end of the week the Blaugrana could have a seven-point lead cut to just one point with two losses in three days.
Beating Las Palmas comfortably while resting a few key stars would be the perfect scenario for Ernesto Valverde, so his team can face Atlético with a fresh, confident side ready to get a big win and practically clinch La Liga on Sunday night.
